Enlisted in USAF as of 09 Nov. 2010. Waiting for my shimpent out date, sometime in Feb or March. Really excited. Thought I might share this one with people.:lang:

4 years, open in electrics with preference to Cyber System Securities. Also taking DLAB on Monday, so maybe will work out as a linguist. From the other side don’t really want the linguist (a little too many deployments).

Дата отправки очень “многообещающая”. Год от даты подписания контракта. Но ето ничего точного. Сказали как только откроеться работа сразу позвонят. Приблизительно февраль или март 2011. DLAB is a MAJOR byach. Времени на подготовку не было вообще, но и подготовиться в принципе не возможно. Одно могу сказать тренеруйте слуховое восприятие и логику. Логика нужна для последней части теста. Слуховое восприятие для всего остального. Времени в обрез, думать практически некогда, услышать нужно с первого раза кнопки “replay” нету. Так что либо пан либо пропал. Я набрал 93 но минимальный проходной для лингвиста 100 очков. Так что переводчик отпадает с моего горизонта. Рамки перездачи 6 месяцев. Если что то можно полезного найти то только на google и успехов. В офисе ВВС сказали что 70% тестируемых проваливаются на етом тесте. Тест действительно тяжелый, не столько по содержанию сколько по лимитам во времени. Но я повторяюсь. Простите. ASVAB по сравнению в етим просто детский садик. Набрал на ASVAB кстати 71 пришлось подтверждать т.к. первый раз набрал 47. Отрыв слишком большой получился, но подтвердил успешно на 70. M76 G78 A72 E81 ето параметры для ВВС которые я получил. В военкомате когда предлагают выжать вес 4 раза (каждый раз вес увеличивают, макс. 110 фунтов нужно выжать над головой) лучше жать (пусть даже пердящей парой, извините за выражение) т.к. ето открывает больший спектр профессий и уже можно торговаться. Вот в кратце и все. Ето кроме тех фактов что еда в отеле была не просто ужастной а отвратительной (но в каждом отеле по разному) а ланч в военкомате весьма далек от борща и 100 под горяченькое 
но спасибо что вообще кормят. К рекрутеру в офис организовали pickup приехал Lincoln Navigator, мое самолюбие было вполне удовлетворено хотя не стоит предаваться розовым мечтам, за моим соседом приехал Buick неизвестной модели и еще более неизвестного года выпуска, в нем что то подозрительно скрипело. Ето я к тому что бывает по разному. Всем гуд лак!

Как к асвабу готовился, если не секрет, Я вот его пересдала спустя 3 года и то в G не набрала нужных мне 72, хотя в E получила 87.
No, not a secret. I f-d up my first test, got like 42 pts on and did not qualify. Scored so low because of the fact that I was out of hight school 7 yrs ago and had a week to prep. Wasn’t enough. Second try I got 71. All I did is bought 1 book (Barrons Guide to ASVAB) rear through it and did all practice tests, then went to Glencoe Public Library and got another ASVAB book (I did not know that you don’t really have to buy the book and you can just take it from the lib.) Did all of the tests in the second book, switched to the third one and so on. It wasn’t as hard as it was dull and boring thing to do, but did it. I’m sure that if I would have a little more time than a month I would do better. Just switch books and keep doing those practice tests.

Какую специальность посоветуете, чтобы и на гражданке не стыдно было зарабатывать ? )) Уклон желательно в программиста, или на крайняк в электронщика. (имеется ВО в электронике, и 2 года оптыа работы программистом АСУ ТП). Спасибо за ответ.
На гражданке ваша специальность особенно не критична, критично образование. Советовал бы идти в электронщики-калибраторы, поработаете с военным железом как минимум что может пригодиться. Спросите Artemy тут на форуме.
I am looking into either Cyber Space Securities or Network Administration. I do not remamber the names of those MOS’s but when you talk to the AF Job Councelor in MEPS they’ll be able to give you job descriptions based on what you are interested in.
К сожалению, специальности о которых вы упомянули доступны только гражданам. Это и является причиной почему я пошел к рекурутам из army. Но спасибо за ответ !
Вопрос, знатокам! Сколько буду ждать проверки документов и всего, уже здал тест, зделал весь paper work, а вот медкомисию предется подождать, так сказал рекрут - дело в том, что есть диплом о вышем оброзовании и им надо время для подтверждения его…вот и жду, а так хочется уже быстрей попасть, пока изучаю какую работу выбрать…и еще… что ожидать на медкомиссии, история из личного опыта, так как в общем с процедурой я ознакомлен…зарание спасибо !!
за пару недель подтверждение диплома должно быть готово.
правда, есть информация от стаф сержанта, что с 1 января 2011 вы сами занимаетесь подтверждением дипломов. в другой стороны, если рекрутер вам этого не говорил и вы уже сдали тесты, возможно, к вам это не относится.
It depends on the service you are going to. For Air Force I had to wait approx. 1 month between the ASVAB and the Enlistment. But I went in as enlisted with no diplomas to evaluate. Best option is to call your recruiter and clarify with him. That’s what he gets paid for.

Я пришел к нему готовый, уже со всеми документами, дипломами и эвалюэйшинами… мы быстро с ним все зделали, здал тест, получил достойный бал, он написал промоушен на Е-3, а командование, т.е. его босс - сказал что хочу проверить на подлиность все эти бумажки, сомневаються блин… вот теперь и жду…а сколько ждать он сам и не знает (1-2 месяц), так как все передал боссу. Так, что же на медкомисии ожидать, аэйрмены ??? MixMan - а с каким рекрутом вы работали, я то же просто с Иллинойса !!
SSgt. Duane Blassingame. He is based in Mt. Prospect. Very, very nice guy. Cares about you and tries to make sure that you do not go in as a complete N00B. Medical is simple enough and fun too. The only down part is that you will spend there at least half of your day. I went in at 5 a.m. and was done by 2 p.m. BUT MAKE SURE! that you will bring everything (all of your paperwork with you, even those that you might think you will not need!) and when you will get to MEPS after check in there is going to be a lady sitting kind of in the middle of the hallway with bunch of folders, come to her and get your Treatment Record (so later on during processing they will not send you back to get it, just a tip to save a trip.) So here is the process:
1. Urine sampling: 5 ppl at a time will go in to the restroom, you will be given stickers and little tubs, you will have to glue the sticker on the tub in the way you will be told to, do not do it in any other way cause they will give you crap and giggles, then you will be asked to step back from the bowls one step and pull your junk out and leak while the Doc. is going to be watching you FUN PART (on kid couldn’t do it he had to drink like 5-6 500ml glasses of warm tap water YUCKS!!! you better pee!)
2. Blood test: Nothing exciting.
3. General doctor: Here he will ask you to read a paragraph from the wiered random book, then he will ask you to pull your pants down turn around band over and spread your butt-cheaks. After that you will be asked to turn back to normal turn your head to the left and caugh (while you are at it he will examine your junk in the front). That’s the most imbaresing part. But we are all grown-ups. 
4. Hearing and vision: Hearing part of it is you and other 3 ppl will go into the “sound proof” cubicle and be seated and gived headphones and a button. You will be played different sounds of different HgZ’s and whenever you hear a sound you will have to press a button. I have no idea how it works so don’t ask me on what’s correct way to behave in that room. Just press the button if you hear a sound. Vision is pretty standard. Letter board, depth preception and color blindeness. You can google all of those procedures (it’s just too long and too boring to expalin). In one word if your vision is OK you will be fine.
5. Duck Walk: You will be asked to undress to your undies and be weight and mesured in height. Then 15 ppl in theis undies will go into the room and be asked to do different exircises for the physician to check whatever they need to check. Duck walk, back walk, kneeling, and stand-ups ect., boring.
6. Fingerprinting
After all of that you will be forwarded to your branch of service and they will ask you to wait in the front lobby until they call you in.
7. Job counceling: You will sit down with a job councelor and pick your job. Basically how it works you will be asked to push weights over your head (max is like 110 lbs if you can do all of them do it as it opens more jobs for you) then you will be given a wish list where you can list from 5-10 jobs you would like to get. If most of them i electronics (you will get “open electronics”) and be sent to the Oath of Enlistment. After that is done you will be given a ride to your recruiters office.

Just a few things to remember:
1. Do not tell them anything that they do not need to know. Because you will be disqualified! As my recruiter asked me when I came in: Do you have any health problems that may prevent you from graduating basic training? No, sir. that’s if you really don’t have major health issues. If you have Astma, Epilleptic sizures and stuff it’s better for everyone if you’d stay away from the military in general.
2. Make sure your recruiter put’s in your driving record info if you have speeding tickets or red light violations that are on your record!!! They are counted in and if you don’t have them in your file you might have issues during enlistment. And it’s a free for all situation. Means no matter how cool your recruiter is he will blame it on you. Best option is to go to the drivers licensing facility and obtain your record (it costs approx $15.00), but in that way you will not have any hick-ups.
3. Your contract will be general, it will say that your basic training sipping date is a year from date of enlistment. It’s normal, that is your first contract and soon enough your recriuter will give you your main contract to sign (by saying soon enough I mean whenever they will have a spot in basic training open for you, so anytime from one week to couple months). Basic will be scheduled in approx two to three monthes from the time you signed your second contract. MAKE SURE!!! that in your second contract your bonuses (if any) and your rank are correct! After you sign that paper and it reaches MEPS there is no way to change anything. And do not go for 6 yrs enlistment! If you wanna know why google it. By saying that I mean even if you are planning to make a career out of military. Hint-hint: resigning bonuses (that no one tells you about) there are different categories for tose. If you take 6 years commitment you have a great chanse of getting a BIG THANK YOU at your re-enlistment instead of 5000-25000 $$$ =0 =0 =0
